Theia was founded with the fundamental belief that fashion can and should be a force for good. Fashion has always been deeply woven into the fabric of society, both reflecting and inspiring culture throughout history. We believe today, it has the opportunity to embrace and help drive change towards a just future for all. 

The fashion industry and wider society are in a period of transition, as we transcend old extractive systems and work to build strong regenerative systems that redefine value by placing people and the planet over profit. 

A new era in fashion communications is needed to help tell the stories of the visionaries, pioneers and innovators working to build the industry of the future. We exist to galvanise collective change through informed and inspiring communications, creative solutions and building strong connections through meaningful collaboration.
 



ABOUT THEIA

Theia (Thay-a) was the ancient Greek goddess of vision and light. She was the daughter of Gaia (earth) and Uranus, the planet of innovation, technology and change. It was believed that she shined light on earth, giving people the power of vision, clarity and foresight, enabling them to see into and act for the future.

We believe this evolving space requires a fresh approach to fashion communications, combining in-depth knowledge in sustainability, policy changes and technology innovation with almost two decades of creative storytelling experience. We collaborate with a diverse range of clients as they navigate this ever-evolving landscape, developing informed and engaging communications strategies that educate, inspire and captivate, towards a shared desire for just future for all.

ABOUT THE FOUNDER

Melanie Hughes founded Theia after working in the fashion PR and communications sector for over eighteen years where she worked across high-street, luxury and multi-brand online retailers. She has spent the last ten years supporting organisations focused on driving the transition towards a more circular and sustainable fashion industry. She previously worked as Global PR Director for resale platform Vestiaire Collective and has since supported a wide array of clients working on sustainability and circular initiatives including Fashion for Good, Selfridges, TrusTrace, Fashion Revolution, The Luxury Closet, Loan the Look, the PEFC and cultural sustainability organisation BLACK PEARL. Her extensive experience in delivering communications for leaders in this sector inspired her to launch a boutique PR agency dedicated to scaling impact.
